Several Ohio school districts transitioned Monday to in-person or hybrid learning models, and others plan to in the next week as part of an agreement with the state. A part of me will always be a thunderbolt.COLUMBUS, Ohio - Before vaccinating staff, Ohio’s public school superintendents had to pledge they would bring students back to school by March 1, but seven of Ohio’s schools fell short of the deadline and say they need more time. Overall, growing up in this community has been a lot of fun, and I have created lifelong memories with amazing people, and teachers that I will remember forever. The parades and festivals we have as a town are so much fun and the community is very diverse. Everyone in the Northmont community is so supportive and friendly. The people I have met on the way have also been amazing. The school spirit is amazing and the atmosphere of football games is something I can't even describe. I have been a cheerleader for most of my life, and supporting the thunderbolts has always been a passion of mine. Throughout the years, I have been involved in lots of amazing clubs. I have created bonds with them, keeping them now as a Senior. All of the teachers I’ve had, minus a select few, I have had amazing relationships with. Overall, I have had an amazing and unforgettable experience. Senior: I have been a student of Northmont since I was in the kindergarten. The food is also very good(with restaurant chains bringing in food as well as some simple alternatives) and generally provides options for vegetarians. In terms of teachers, I would definitely say that they are above average- with a few exceptions. Of course, there have been some problems transitioning to online learning(due to the COVID-19 crisis), but most teachers have been understanding of the shift. One issue, however, is the English classes, which barely prepare students for standardized testing. The administration is also very respectful of its students, and accommodating when needed. The school building itself is a little small for the number of students and, being an older building, does have some issues with climate control(it's literally freezing or a sauna). The school has lots of AP options, as well as College Credit Plus and Career Tech partnerships. Junior: Oakwood is a great place for those who want to challenge themselves academically.
